His food is beautiful. His wife, Anastasia, assisted him with service and also brought a warmth and personality that topped off the whole experience. Our dinner by Vassilis was truly PERFECT. Prior to the evening, he was a great communicator and worked with our changes/accommodations. On the night they set the table so beautifully with flowers and candles -- His wife (who is so sweet) served the meal and was such a warm presence. Vassilis gave us all explanations of the Cretan dishes, and everything tasted SO delicious and fresh. Everything he had either came from his garden or had a local backstory (like our fish, which was a rare catch that day). Of course they left the kitchen spotless at the end, and also taught us all a lot about the island, giving me a lot of fantastic recommendations. Overall they created a beautiful memory for us. The communication and planning was easy and efficient, and Vassilis was so helpful in accommodating menu modifications. Upon arrival at the villa, they quickly got to work and brought everything they could possibly need for our thoughtfully curated dinner. They were warm and welcoming, taking moments in between cooking to chat with us and tell us about themselves and the beautiful island of Crete! The meal Vassilis cooked for us was the absolute best meal we had in Crete. Everything was locally sourced or from their very own home garden, and you could really taste the freshness in every bite. The tomatoes were the juiciest we’ve ever had, the fish was impeccably light and fresh and the lamb chops were out of this world - we cannot say enough good things about this meal! They explained the significance or historical background tied to each dish, came and spoke with us throughout dinner and truly felt like family right away! They are kindest, most talented couple and we cannot wait to return to Crete for another outstanding private dining experience with them! My friends and I hired Chef Vassilis for two evenings at our villa. His curation of the menus ahead of time and attention to all the little details were impeccable. All of his dishes were made with careful consideration of what was available locally and every one was so delicious. Even for a group of 10, his wife and his service was expertly executed. We were in Crete to celebrate our dad's 80th birthday, and wanted to celebrate at our villa with a special dinner. Vassilis was amazing in the lead up to the dinner, working with us on the menu to accommodate for various dietary requirements. The food was utterly delicious. He prepared us a feast inspired by the local cuisine to reconnect us with our Cretan roots. The service was excellent, the table was beautifully decorated, and he was a wonderful host.
